NB Diary incl weather started 18th January; all chook records have been kept for as long as we have had chooks.
Weather:

Chooks:
- Egg production: 114 (aver 3.68 eggs per day; aver 19 eggs per laying hen)
- Chooks tally:
- Total: 24
- # layers: 6 (1 CS, 3 A, 2 H)
- # Coronation Sussex: 8 (5 pullets + 2 hens + rooster)
- # Australorp: 3 hens
- # Hybrids: 10 (7 pullets + 3 hens)
- # Barnevelders: 3 chicks
- Key Events
- Lost 2 pullets. One disappeared completely, the other was found dead with wounds on its back.
- Caspa went broody for 2 weeks. Into broody box on 31/1/14
- Moneypenny collected 10 eggs in a bush nest before we found out (when she disappeared for a night)
- Fox scare. Kept chooks in shed and not free range until we sort out what to do long term.
- The Colonel got laryngitis.

- Red shallots. Cut the tops off. Very tasty and they reshoot fairly quickly
- Capsicums. harvest regularly for a bumper crop. Several can then be left to go red. Very tasty and easy.

- Planting: Jennifer's tree (Angophora floribunda) and 3 volunteers from Nursery in euc grove.
- Mulching: Horse poo see 'fertilising'
- Hand Weeding: Citrus grove and at the front fence (inside and out).
- Chemical Weeding:
- Fertilising: 4 trailer loads of Horse poo on Citrus Grove
- Creating / Revamping: citrus grove expansion, euc grove devel - weeding and planting.
- Bushcare: Weeding around scaly bark trees.
